1. CITES permits

USA – To import a leopard trophy into the USA you will need to complete US Fish & Wildlife Form 3–200-19 to apply for a CITES permit.

Download US Fish & Wildlife Form 3-200-19

The Zimbabwe authorities will not issue the necessary CITES export paperwork until they have got a copy of this permit. It is recommended to apply for this permit a few months before leaving for your hunt so that you can leave a copy with us. If you shoot your leopard it will speed up the process of exporting your trophies by several months if you already have the permit from US Fish & Wildlife.

If you are hunting an elephant or a crocodile, you will not need to fill out this form and the operator and shipping company in Zimbabwe will complete all the CITES paperwork for export.

4. Overnighting

Depending on your itinerary, you might find that you have to overnight at some point after you have arrived in Africa. This can either be in South Africa or in Zimbabwe. Some ideas to keep in mind when working on your itinerary with your travel agent are:

Overnighting in Zimbabwe

·  There is an evening flight from Johannesburg to Harare which arrives in Harare at 9.20pm

· We will meet you and collect you from this flight and have accommodation available at our private house. There is no charge for you to overnight with us.

·  If you overnight with us then we can arrange for your charter to leave the following morning and you will get into camp by midday the day before your hunting is due to start (this does not mean you cannot go out and get the rifle zero’d in and do a little hunting).

Overnighting in South Africa

·  If you decide to overnight in South Africa then you will have to clear your weapons into South Africa (see ‘Clearing Weapons in South Africa’).

·   You will probably catch the mid morning flight from Johannesburg to Harare which arrives at 12.20pm.

·  Someone from Zambezi Hunters will meet you at the airport with the charter pilot and walk you across to the Domestic terminal to catch your charter.

·   You will generally be in camp late afternoon with time to go out and zero rifles ready for the first hunting day starting the following morning.
