Jonathan Hulme was born in 1969 into a family that has a long tradition as outdoorsmen. He grew up in wildlife areas and his formative years were spent in the company of local tribesmen from whom he gleaned much knowledge about hunting and bush lore.
As a youth, Jonathan displayed an avid interest in the natural environment, the culture and customs of the local Shangaan and Shona people and for hunting in particular. Proficient as a hunter and fluent in the Chishona dialect from an early age, it was obvious to all who knew him that Jonathan would choose professional hunting as a career. For him there was no other choice. In his own words, he 'lives to hunt'.
Jonathan embarked upon his career in hunting when he joined Ian Piercy's Zambezi Hunters as a learner hunter in 1986. This was the starting point of what was to become a brilliant career. From that time until the present day, Jonathan has been hunting big game continuously. He says that he would not have it otherwise and that he knows of no other way with which he would like to occupy himself.
The dedication and determination which drives Jonathan as a professional is evidenced by his attainment of the best hunter of the proficiency exam in 1992 and by the excellent quality of trophies he continues to deliver year after year.
In 2002, many years of hard work paid off and Jonathan became a director and shareholder of Zambezi Hunters. Today (with the help of a very able team) he runs this company in much the same manner he would run any hunting safari - to a very high standard and the best of his ability.
In African hunting circles the name Jonathan Hulme has become synonymous with quality safaris and exceptional trophies. Many satisfied clients throughout the world will attest tot he validity of this statement.
Jonathan is married to Nina and has three children, Daniel (13 years old), Nicholas (9 years old) and Jade (7 years old)
